7060 trans problem

neighbor has a 7060 with a power director trans. tractor started to have a problem when shifting out of park into either high or low range. sometimes the trans would engage and work fine, other times it either will not engage at all or engages and then will move a few feet, then act like it went into neutral. could this be something internal in the trans, or possibly a shift cable or linkage issue? tractor has a cab on it, and getting to the linkage looks like a real treat.

Dealt with a similar issue on a 7020 last year. Turned out to be the plastic clip under the shifter housing in the cab. It holds the shift cable in place. I replaced it with some wire if I remember correctly.

Could also be the ball-stud on the range transmission shifter at the lower end of shift cable is loose. You can see it by swinging out the batteries. It is easily accessable by remmoving the floorboard in the cab. If you remove the side console in the cab and floorboard everything is wide open.
