Wheel weights for C Allis

Back around last Thanksgiving, I brought home a AC C, with a 5' sickle mower on it,( mid mount). The right rear wheel wouldn't rotate, and I think the brake is rusted up and stopping it. We had a couple of sunny days this week, and I took the wheel off, then the cast center, and god was that center heavy! After letting it fall to the ground, and doing a fancy dance step, to avoid getting my foot crushed, I saw that the center had a full fledged wheel weight, in side it. apparently they will fit on either side of the wheel. The other wheel is also the same. Any idea why they put them inside the wheel? The pitman arm is missing on the mower, and the attaching bearing is made strangely, with two pins sticking out on it like maybe a yoke is on the end of the pitman arm. That is going to be hard to find, especially since I have nothing to go by.

I would suggest that you buy the manual for it I did and it has helped with making adjustments and keeping it running properly. My manual is for a allis chalmers #5 power mower.

The wheel center can go on either way depending how wide you want the tractor to be, so the weight could be inside or outside depending on that, I think. I had a set on a parts tractor that I sold to a fellow a few years ago. They seemed like they fit really well, and the bolts were so rusted together that I sent the centers along with the weights rather than try to get them apart.

They fit both inside and out. On my one C I have them on both sides of the center. You can see the one on the inside in the first picture.

this is with the C weight on the outside. I sometimes pulled with three sets of C weights hanging two sets on the outside.

Send me an e-mail and I'll send you the manual for that mower. I have that manual in this computer so it will only cost you a bit of your time. Pitman sticks are easy to come by and most good farm and home stores stock them

Buy a manual why should one do that when I give them away since I have it in this computer and have offered it to many

I am 75 and still learning! It shouldn't surprise me tho, Allis Chalmers had the best engineers way back then. Their tractors, had to be jack of all trades. Thanks Old! I will take you up on that mower manual, I didn't have a mower model, to use to buy a manual. Maybe it is a #5, like I was just told, but who knows? My problem with the pitman stick, is The metal part that hooks to the pitman bearing is missing, along with the stick. It must have been a Y type yoke, to hook to those 2 pins sticking out on the bearing. Maybe the manual will clear that up.

They are all the same. At least the five sets I have are. All have the same casting number.

It will be a while but I will get them. No way I'm going out in the field thru the snow with a walker now.
