WD45 Hand/transmission Clutch

My Dad has a WD45, sn 201xxx, that belonged to my grandfather. The hand clutch (or transmission clutch as the parts book calls it) is so bad, it won't even move.

Well, today, Dad took the inspection cover off, and called me with the fallowing:
The disk that is visible, has very little surface left, the unit is rusty, and though it has shims left in it, he does not think removing the shims will be enough to make the tractor work.

I am attaching a screen shot of the online part page, and a link to it. Dad would like to have at least a new item 16, Agco PN 70226701 and 70226703. He is not sure what else he want's till he gets it apart.

So, to start, are the above available any where besides AGCO, or even at AGCO?

I would assume they are availble from AGCO. I think there are some aftermarket guys re doing them as well. A good clutch shop could put new pads on them as well. With 150,000 of them around, I'm guessing someone has some good used clutch plates around as well.

Used ones show up on e-bay regularly and some look to be in real
good shape.

I split mine, and carried the whole assembly , in to a local clutch and brake place in Tacoma, and they rebuilt it. Splitting the tractor isn't that bad, if you replace the 4 bolts on the transmission, with 18 inch allthread. It slides apart and stays in index, for closing it back up.

You'd be foolish to not remove shims until all gone (if need be) to make it work. Those three disc clutch plates are pretty thin when new. IF THERE'S SHIMS LEFT, START PULLING SOME OUT!!
