WD Center Transmission Shaft Removal Question

I need to replace both the front and rear bearings on the main drive shaft that goes through the transmission to the rear end gears. I am waiting on a shop manual but had 2 questions.
1. Is the AC shop manual detailed in this procedure. I have quite a mess to fix and will need all the details I can get.
2. Does anyone know amy "tricks" not covered in the shop manual to replace these bearings?
Thanks in advance!

I'm rebuilding a 190xtd. Been working on it for about six years lol. I bought a allis chalmers service manual and mine is very detailed with specs, procedures, everything. You won't regret buying it. You'll need micrometers, dial indicator with a magnetic base, press, patients, pencil and paper, etc. Follow the instructions, take your time and you'll be fine.
I don't know if yours is the same as mine but on mine there is a measurement stamped into the rear of the housing at about 2 o'clock from the pto shaft. That measurement is used to calculate (with your measurements) the size snap ring your going to need. (That's if yours is put together the same as mine.
I had a blast doing mine (other than removing the ding dang snap rings )
Take your time, think it through and have fun.

Your description sounds like the "main shaft" of the transmission. Those bearings fail when the transmission is run low on oil. You have to pull brakes on both sides, both axles, remove the PTO shaft, split the tractor at the battery box and then begin tearing down the tranny. Not a big job if you have good proper tooling. About 25 hrs worth labor.
