D17 for sale

Yesterday I listed a D17 for sale. Well after telling all the stories about it I have decided to keep the old girl. She belonged to me and my Dad and all the memories of time spent with him working the tractor came flooding back. I know some will be mad I did not sell her but I think all will understand why. I guess this is the true meaning of yesterdays tractors. The old tractor brought back all the yesterdays with my Dad.

I wish I could get my dads old AC WD and Oliver 60 back, But I know they are long gone. You did the right thing by keeping it. From now on you will think of all the old time with your dad every time you get on her. I still have my granddads tool box full of tools sitting on the work bench, I done use them but every time I see it I think of him working on something when I was a kid. You did right. Bandit

Dad passed away Dec. 6, 1992. Before spring mother had secretly signed everything over to baby brother. Fast forward about 20 years. Everything is gone except a trailer on a couple of acres, a few odd old pieces of equipment, and the AC WD, and JD 2510. The WD purchased new about 1950 while grandfather was still alive. The 2510 purchased new spring 1966. I was 11 years old and remember it well. My cousin, 20 years my senior, who was there as a teenager for delivery of the WD, bought the WD for the same money it brought new- $1700, I think. Through a friend, I anonymously bought the 2510. Again, for about what it cost new- $5500. Both tractors had sat outside for two years before we got them rescued.

An elderly neighbor has Dads 1967 Gleaner E. Again- purchased new, and always shedded. If it becomes available, I'll have to buy it.

Thanks Fellows I knew you all would understand. Bob hope you get that E gleaner. Bandit I always will. Caseboy1 thanks. It still amazes me how many memories an old piece of iron can bring back and how many are going to be lost when these old girls ain't around. Thanks again. Bruce

Well done !! I'm proud of you! Wish i had had that much sense when i was younger. Now the three tractors have scattered to the wind and probably china by now.If someone doesnt like it ,tell them to have a coke and a smile!! lo
