180 smoking and loss of power

I have a 180 diesel that ran really well and just started to smoke really bad and cough. It has a lose of power and will die if throttled back quickly. I have changed the fuel filter and no change. The sediment bulb is clean. Does not use a drop of oil or antifreeze. Starts great if pluged in when temp is below 40 degrees otherwise it doesn't even need to be pluged in. It has been retired to light duty. Mainly plowing snow in winter. The only thing that has changed from last year was I put a loader on it and serviced it. Any thoughts as to where to start.

mite chek combine forum before chrismas ,, had similar problem , no power lots of smoke was the title I used ,, the perkins 354 in the750 massey runs great now , but it took a new turbo charger, which did not fix it , and a rebuilt ..injector pump...;

If it has a RoosaMaster injection pump you can take off the timing window cover and see if you have any black crumbly pieces. If so start it up with window off and see if it runs better. Bottom line is if you find pieces of the governor ring you need a pump rebuild SOON.
