Transmission fork movement on runner for Allis C

I am just having more "fun" than one person should have in fixing up this 1942 Allis C. Went to put the transmission control back in last night and noticed one fork does not catch right. I assume from the parts book that there is a spring and ball that catches on a detent in the rail. Any one have any experience fixing one of these? Looks like a pin is in the rail but hard to get to. Not sure if its a roll pin or not. I assume much pounding could easily break the casting. Thanks in advance.

Several on ebay. I wouldn't get excited on the ones the photos fail to show the shifter stick guide.

I worked on it for awhile, and then I cheated and drilled a hole in the cover so I could pound out the pin. I threaded the hole and put in a 3/8 short bolt. Someday someone will wonder why the extra bolt, until they open up the transmission and realize it is there to get a pin out of blind hole. There was a way to get the bolt out about 1/8" but that was not enough to get it pulled out.

Now I am looking for a replacement 1 1/2" long 3/16 pin; a spring that is 3/8" diameter by 9/16 or so long. I assume I can find them somewhere..either tractor dealer or hardware store. The spring has to compress hard. I checked with AGCO and they are not long available from them.
