My books show 1150 corn heads made to fit the 60, 66, 72, 90 models. That"s 312,000 combines. Here"s my Model 66 when I brought it home from northern MN a few years ago.

I wonder how hard that was on the rubber covered cylinder bars? A guy could just make some bare angle iron bars to use just for corn and put the rubber covered ones for small grains in when needed. I wonder how hard it was on the combines that had run much corn thru them?

I am sure it was very hard on the machine inside. The ears eat up the cylinder bars, shelling plate and the concave bars. It makes quite a noise when the cobs go through the machine. They were not very practical since many farmers still picked ear corn or chopped silage. Plus they had limited capacity and it took too much time to switch heads as advertised in some sales literature. It is a neat piece of equipment but you have to go pretty slow since they never designed to handle today's hybrids.
