d17 exhuast manifold studs

Where can I get new studs and nuts for manifold does AGCO dealer have them or Nappa? Got all loose without breaking anything but don't want to put rusty ones back on.

On mine, I gust used Hard Bolts of the proper length, with Hard washers under the bolt-heads..

Used Black Gasket Maker on the threads 10 years ago and not one problem...

Rub Hi-Temp Silicone sealer into the asbestos gaskets and stick them in the metal cups and stick that right onto the manifold runners..
Makes manifold installation easy and the gaskets last longer..

My problem has always been the metal cups wouldnt go past the things on the manifold . I've always for some reason had to either grind on the manifold or gentley with a hammer, tap the rims out on the metal cups to get them to fit.Kind of like that age old problem with wheel bearings. When are they tight enough or too tight?

NOT "Real Tight", but good and tight otherwise..

The manifold does have to move as it heats and cools...
"Slip Plate" is a graphite product I have put on the port areas of the head before I installed the manifold, to help allow the cups to slip..

I have made new studs from stainless steel rod, threading them on my lathe. I use stainless washers and nuts on the manifold too. Tom
