when draining coolant to remove the radiator on my wd45 the last liquid to come out looked dark like oil. it was just a little at the end. actually it came out of the block where the plug in heater is connected. can anyone enlighten me as to why it was there? also there is dryed oil all over the engine. before i started taking it apart it started and ran well.

I think it was oil. Probably a cracked engine. Not a real bad crack, just a little crack. The crack probably was worse, but some jacka$$ put in some block sealer. Actually, probably none of this is right. It's probably a neighbor who accidentally put used oil in your radiator as New Year's joke. If you don't have any neighbors who would do such a rotten thing, it's probably a head gasket. Or probably nothing at all. Hope that helps.

When you have the engine out and oil pan of, look closely between each pair of cylinder sleeves from the Bottom side, for a crack running across from one sleeve, to the next one..
Those are common areas for a crack to develop and is NOT cause for dire concern..
while you could have that Resistence-Welded and Pinned, it would not be necessary.
When you have the New Sleeves installed and before you install the Freeze-Plugs, pour into the lower water jacket a FULL Pint of Non-Hardening Permatex and guide it all around the bottom of every sleeve, coating the lower Water jacket Floor..
This done, you will not need to worry about any lower coolant leaks..
I use the same Permatex while installing the sleeves and coat the Back side of every Freeze Plug, to prevent leaks and rust..
Ron.
