mag on a c allis

I'm working on a C allis with a mag for friend. Mag would not fire to start with, so I bought a parts mag. Took two mags and made one, now it fires fine. When I put dis cap on, no fire on plug wire terminals.

Is it possible roter is out of time?

Yes- there are marks on the gears that must be aligned. google "timing marks on Fairbanks magnetos".

2 common mags where used on that tractor. Send me an e-mail and which mag it is and I can then send you the manual for that mag

Thanks old I went into archives. I saved to computer the manual
I found there so I can take lap top with me. Thank you and also
jms for replys.

I have been a fan for sometime of yt and have learned a lot about old tractors reading the forums. Keep up the good work.

On the type J. If the mark is missing on the large
gear. it can be timed by turning the mark on the
small gear stright up and then turning the rotor
so it is pointing just below the timing lug.
