Steering link assembly on Allis B

I know I've seen this but after looking at 1000 posts here I can't find it.

I have a 1939 B that I disassembled 14 years ago and am slowly putting back together. As one would expect it has a lot of 'repairs' that I am trying to fix correctly.

What I am dealing with is the drag link or steering rod from the gear to the spindle. This one isn't even bent (unlike the original), but the hardware appears to be pieces from 3 different set ups. So here are my questions.
First, the hole location is different between the ends, one has the socket closer to the end. Which end goes on the box and which to the spindle, and yes if I remember there is a reason for it.
Second, the socket stack up.
I have (3) polished cups, (1) which is shorter than the others. Should there be a 2nd short one?
I have (2) springs, one slightly shorter than the other, and the ID of the shorter one is larger. I have (2) steel spring stands with a center shaft that sticks up into the springs, one is shorter than the other, has a smaller shaft diameter, and has a hole drilled all the way through it. The tall one has a chamfer along the edge of the wide portion. The short spring and stand have to go together as the tall spring won't go over the short stand. I also have a stepped brass washer with a hole through it, where the raised step fits into the shorter spring but not the taller spring. Seems evident that it goes with that spring and stand, but its outside diameter is smaller that that of the outside of the spring. When I stack these up it is lightly taller than the tall spring.
I'm going to assume that the bent washer was a later addition.
From inspection the shaft end with the hole further from the end does not have room for a spring package on the shaft side, and it looks like it needs a 'short' socket to space the ball correctly in the opening. The other end does not have room for a spring package on the shaft side, but looks like it needs a 'tall' socket. So the springs must go on the end plug side, but which where? And am I missing the 4th socket?

Many thanks!

You have a mxed up bunch of parts.
First you didn't say which axle you have, I assume adjustable wide front axle as it does have a bent link, the arched axle has a straight one 39 3/8" long.
The order the parts go in the front end is: Spring bumper, spring, cup, spindle , cup, threaded plug.
On the other end the order is reversed.
I suggest you get a parts manual and a service manual, they are sooo helpful. I would not however recommend an IT manual, they are not the same.
Anything else I'm glad to help if I can.

No, it's a B with the standard arch front end.
The cups go in, then the link slips over the balls
on the spindle and pitman arm, then it appears a
cup, spring, spring holder, then the threaded plug
and cotter pin. So that tells me I am missing a
cup and the brass unit must be a shim to adjust
for wrong parts stack up.

So it's off to the jyard and evilflay to find the
parts I need. I'm slowly stripping the only B left
in the jyard, it was restored but since it was a
hand crank it ended up in the yard, already have
its front tires.... now mebbe its steering rod.

So if its the arched front axle you need a straight drag link.
There should be no brass part, wear is taken up by the threaded plug and spring.
