Since 1948 was the first year WD's were made, are there any modifications or design changes in the later models?

1951 new cylinder head provides for spark plug to fire over center of piston

1953 helical gears in transmission identified by curved shifter

1954 introduction of the W226 engine replacing the W201

Not sure when, but the 2 disc hand clutch was improved by a 3 disc model. Also, factory power steering became available. And during the WD45 run, a diesel engine with 12V system came out.

WD got the constant mesh transmission in late 1952, at sn 127008. Battery ignition replaced the magneto in 1953, sn 136318. WD45 was introduced with the 226 engine in 1953 at sn 146607, had wider standard and optional tires, also the 3 plate hand clutch. Power steering was an available option in 1956. Snap Coupler hitch was available on the WD, but made standard in the first year of WD45 production, at sn 151381.

Nobody around here liked the WD-45 Diesels, they had a BAD reputation for cracking Heads if worked good and hard, like all AC's were...

Enjoy your Collectable but don't "work" it too hard...
