190xt hi-lo

I have two 190xt's on my farm right now. My son
has a 1967 model with spring up style hi-lo
shifter, which is what I have always seen on this
style tractor. I recently bought a 1966 model
that has a notch style shifter. I've been aruond
190's and 200's for several years and have never
seen one like it. As best I can tell when zooming
in on photos no othern has this. Was this an
option, or some sort of aftermarket set-up.

The 190XT we had used the up & down type lever. Traded it for a 200 which had the notch type lever. I would guess that yours with the notch lever has been retrofitted.

I agree with Tom. One of your tractors has been retro-fitted. All 200's I saw arriving from the factory had the cheapened, mickey mouse slotted metal plate/flat stock handle. One of them had to be altered because you couldn't adjust it to get hi and lo both! Good thing the customer(brand new to AC) caught the clutch slipping, or it would have been a LOT more work.

It sounds like, as usual, my memory is not perfect! Maybe a search at AGCO parts would show a serial number break where this was a running change in 200 production, and not a change between the 190XT, and the 200.

I dont know if its a family talent of finding strange units but my uncle is second owner of a 190 series 1 gas and my grandpa has a 200 and both have the notched shifter. The only one I've ever seen was a 190xt that had the push shift leaver but that isn't a huge indicator. I haven't been around a huge number of them.
