WD 45 carb question

I have 1955 WD45 with a problem. When I open the valve at the gas tank to let gas flow to the carb, the gas starts running out of the carb. Any ideas, I have tried tapping the carb in case the float is stuck but no change. Not even sure it has a float. Has run fine up to today, cold weather. Thanks

Yes it has a float. Whether it's MS or Zenith, it's still basically the same thing. The float rides on the fuel in the bowl, and closes/opens the needle as necessary. It could be the float. It could be the needle/seat. It could be moisture, crap, or some other contamination.
It need to come off, be taken apart, and be cleaned/repaired.

Float is sticking or bad or there is dirt/rust in the needle seat. Yes I has to have a float or it would never have worked. Couple things to try. Open the fuel valve count to 5 then shut if off. Start the engine and open the valve again and run it for say an hour and see if it clears up. It may clear up due to dirt/rust. If it runs bad and has black smoke the float may have gone bad as in a hole in it

Sounds like it is time to remove the bottom section of the carb (Four screws that point Down from the top of the float area).
Careful with the gasket and venturi and it drops away.
Clean the interior AND the passage that leads to the Main Fuel adjustment.
Check the Float for leaks or damage (if it has NO fluid inside and it floats, it should be Good).
Blow out the Needle/Seat area with Carb/Brake cleaner and it should be good to go.
Very simple carb..
