Hey guys I am trying to find a 180 or 185 narrow front tractor. Does anyone know of anything around for sale? Thank you much!

It shows in the parts cards from allis chalmers that the narrow front option was available through parts to 1977 or 78. I would guess a dealer would sell the tractor how ever the customer would want it. I have seen some 185s with the narrow front that they claim was new with it. Just like with John deere you couldn't get a 4040 with a narrow front they say unless it was dealer installed or ordered. It really isn't a big deal I know I have seen some narrow front 185s my grandpa has a late model 190xt he got new from an allis dealer and he pulled tow line so he ordered it in with a zipper front and purchased the narrow front end for it. Pretty crazy all of the different things that can be done! Fun to work with!

I"m assuming it"s slang for a tricycle front....I"m not gonna look for that terminology in a parts book....

someone may have made this one, but it was advertised as a 185 NF

I believe you are right, sure looks like the same tractor, based on that front guard.

Guess by this time there was few calls for NF,

I never owned one, but some said in wet ground the front wheels would just dig out a ditch and get you stuck.

I had a choice of a WF D 14 or NF D 17, I went with the 14, it was a good tractor for what I needed at the time. I had young boys at the time and I was concerned with them driving the NF.

The 190 and 190XT had with two different front axle options that had totally different steering apparatus. A wide front or an interchangeable front that could be either wide, narrow or single wheel aka zipper front.

Actually Joe, there was an overlap of 180 and 185 production of three years(1970-1973) and as far as I know the narrow front was still available at that time so it is possible that a 185 could have had a factory installed narrow front. The only way we could know for sure is to find a dealer price book from that time period.
