Stuck valve

Started my model C Allis after sitting for several months and it seems I have a stuck exhaust valve. Anyone have any luck getting one freed up without having to pull the head?

Take the valve cover off, start the engine, see which valve isn't
moving, turn engine off, either tap valve stem down to free it or
grab it with pliers and turn it. It shouldn't take much to free it
since you said it's only been a couple of months since running.
Check your oil bath and make sure water hasn't gotten in the
bath.

i've used atf and acetone as a penetrant for stuck valves. as the other poster said. jucie it up and try to get it moving.. might add some mmo to the oil and fuel after starting to get it lubed up.

if you have old gas run it out and get it going on new gas before shutdown.

Had good results from Berrymans B12. You can get it at WalMart. Start it up, remove valve cover, and flood the sticking valve with B12. It will free up, keep at it, flooding it out until the cylinder starts missing. Then repeat.
Keep going on the rest of the valves until all are clean and free.

I had a valve in my old jeep that kept sticking.

I bought 1 qt of marvel mystery oil, poured 1/2 of
the can in the fuel tank, poured 1/2 of the can in
the oil crankcase.

Started the engine, in about 1 minute the sticky
valve loosened up and the engine smoothed out.

It worked for me, worth a try.

When we were using and working them HARD, twice a year Dad would pump a good squirtcan full of used oil into the carburetor of each JD "B" (at a fast idle) to help prevent sticking valves..

The 1st 3 years we had them (bought New), JD always had one or the other for burned valves.

The oil (and maybe the loss of the mufflers) must work, they neither have burned a valve since..

Expect an impressive amount of smoke when you do this..preferably OUTSIDE..!!

Back in the day. One of dads customers at the
repair shop had a B Allis. The valves were stuck
on it often. It had a belly mounted sickle mower.
Was used only a few times a year.

it didn't have a muffler just a 2 -3 foot stright
pipe. I think that let more moisture in.

Remove valve cover and determine which valve is
stuck. Pour ATF around the valve stem and let it
soak for several days. Tap with a brass hammer on
top of rocker arm of stuck valve. It may pop loose.
Good luck.
