AC C vs. AC WC

I just read Rick;s post, and he asks about the wireing on an AC C, so I need to satisfy my ignorance. Back in Illinois in, around, 1962, I traded a F20 Farmall, to a guy, for what he called a C allis. It was a really great running small tractor, with a hand crank, magneto, narrow front end, good hand brakes, a oval shaped gas tank, a pan seat, and I don't remember any wiring, battery, or a generator. How the fan belt stayed tight, I don't know. Anyway, since being on this forum, I had come to the conclusion, that what we called a C was in fact a WC, and never was able to make myself appear ignorant, and ask this question. Are they 2 different models, or is a WC called a C by some folks?

I've never heard a C called a WC or WC called a C unless you are my age and get confused easily, or so my wife says. LOL

They are two different models. The C was rated a one/two bottom and the WC was rated two/three bottom plow tractor. WC was larger and more horse power.

I have looked at pictures of unstyled WC's on this forum, and they look like what I remember. It did have frame rails, and the gas tank was supported by strap steel, which came up to it from the frame rails.

Ralph, a C is in the range of 2000 pounds and 20 HP, a WC is more like 3000 pounds and 30 HP. About 50% bigger machine. If you had the oval tank that is the "unstyled" which would make it several years older than the C... Later model WC "styled" looked more like the C, except still had the c-channel sides.

I am not an Allis man but I do know anouther way to tell. The C the seat was centered on but on the WC-RC the seat was offset to the right so to look forward you more or less looked past the right side of the engine, the C you looked directly over top of engine. And a C had a bench seat mounted between fenders, at least some like the C that is at action today has. Also noesn't a C have only 3 forward gears? And a WC 4?

Here's my 37 WC.
I think you'll see the obvious differences to the later model C.
This is a good old simple brute of a tractor. Hand crank only so it has a grand total of five wires. One kill switch wire and four for the plugs.
The front wheels are 17".
