Is the ground on an Allis B 6 volt positive or negative?

If converted to 12 volt with alternator what is the ground? Thanks Amo

your question kinda reads like how much does a pund of lead weigh?

the alternator build will determine what ground it must have. either positive or negative or ( rarely ) an isolated case unit.

Negative ground alternators are the predominant style. especially among the gm 10/12SI 1 and 3 wire varieties commonly used to convert tractors.

I don't have a B.. but my G is positive ground.

From the factory, the B is positive ground and 6 volts. If you install an alternator, you change the battery terminals to negative ground and positive lead to the starter and alternator lugs. Normally the alternator will route thru the amp meter. The starter does not care about polarity, it will turn the right direction.. Do you have a magneto or a distributor.

All the Allis tractors from the 40's-50's I've been around were postive ground. Most alt are negative ground.
