Are the distributors vertical or horizontal?

If the aluminum one is horizontal I'm guessing it
is a Prestolite.

I have no experience with WC or dual fuel manifolds. My recollection is that WD, and WD45 manifolds, although different, all were round castings where they met up with the head. The two end exhaust ports got extra support bosses cast with them starting with the D17 I believe. My 1957 WD45 with original manifold has only round ports.

Interesting. One of my WDs has all round ports, and the other one has the extra support on the two end ports you mentioned. So that one must have been a replacement manifold? Especially since the one with the extra support is the 52 WD, not the 53.

Also, this was the best I could do on short notice to get a picture of the distributors on both tractors:

#1 is the '53 WD, #2 is the '52 WD.

I believe that #1 is definitely cast aluminum... And #2 is too covered in oil and grease to tell.

Your distributors are for a wd45. You must have
very late WD's or someone has made a change over.

All the WD's I've been around have had the flange
mounted delco distributors that bolt on in place
of the magneto.
