Tractor Trade?

Any advice on whether or not I should trade my WD for a D-14? I mainly use it to run a 6' snowblower. Would the D-14 be an upgrade, or basically the same as my WD? Any advice is appreciated. Here's a pic of my WD and snowblower.

I think power wise the WD and D-14 are about the same even though the D-14 has a smaller engine (149 cid for the D-14 vs. 201 cid for the WD). If the D-14 has the power director, it would provide more speeds. Other than that, I don't see an advantage.

That's a nice looking WD!

Well.... an average WD in my area of MN brings about $1500. An equal average D-14 is closer to $3,000. So from a simple economic view, you'd be getting a pretty good deal. However , you have to consider the mechanical condition of each, tire condition, paint condition, etc.

I have both wd has better traction(taller tires) and more power (more cubic inch) d 14 is souped up b and has more speeds

The WD is more tractor, more rugged, and it looks like you've got a NICE one.

A D14 without power steering is a bear to steer.

More speeds is nice, but that's all you would gain.

nice tractor
and by the looks of your pic, it knows how to work, and doesn't mind the cold.
Even though the D-14 would bring a little more in my area,
would I trade a known worker for an unknown? not a chance.

I get offers all the time on my 'snow' tractor.
Blade front and rear, chained up and heavily weighted.
I don't use it much in summer, use other tractors.
get an outstanding offer in July and stop to think about
how I can shovel down thru a snowdrift to even find it, and it starts easily, and is unstoppable plowing snow.......
nope, not for sale.

Great picture,

I had a D14 for years, great old tractor in my book, old guy told my the D series would starve a shop to death as they did not break down that much.

I liked the fact you had h/l in each gear.

Also liked that you got on off the tractor without having to crawl over the pto shaft or step onto the attached implement.

But I had a lot of the snap couple equipment and a 3 pto adapter, so I could do most everything with it.

That front row cultivator was great for plowing corn or tobacco.

The snap couple pond scoop, subsoiler and double disc plow also worked good.

The extra range on the D14 would make it a lot nicer for the snowblower although the D14 doesn't have as much HP its slower in low range reverse than the WD.I've owned/operated a lot of
WD's and a few D14s I'd go with the D14 if it were in equal condition.
