my latest dilema

My allis B is getting to be a bigger project than expected...

I never have solved my running on partial choke thing .. I have cleaned it soooo many times you could eat out of it but it still required partial choke to run.

Now........ I went to push it forward and the rear wheel act like they are locked. I can only go into neutral an the forward and back motion on the right side of the shift pattern ( I think reverse and first) Do you think the thing is stuck between gears???? Why would this have happened ( the thing has not moved and I rolled it into place).

This thing is whooping me bad

Will the clutch disengage the engine from the transmission? i had a similar problem, and the clutch was stuck on the splined shaft of the transmission. The engine would turn over slow because it was turning all of the gears in the transmission, etc.

I had to split the tractor, R&R the clutch, bearing, pres plate. after that, the engine would turn over as designed, uncoupled from the transmission.

you are on to something, when I push the clutch in it does not disengage. I just put a new clutch ,pressure plate and throwout bearing in ,,, I wonder what happened????

maybe the throughout bearing is installed backwards, not really sure if that is possible, or would cause this problem. need some advice form some of these guys that work on them a lot, i only did one tractor, but several cars.

Can you get the transmission into neutral? one way to check might to be to block up both back tires, put the trans in neutral, and then turn the starter, if the wheels turn, then it is most likely a clutch issue, or maybe trans issue, but i would think more the clutch.

again, need someone with more experience than me, as am not an expert.

Don't know about your clutch problem but it sounds like the carb is sucking air somewhere it shouldn't. When U close the choke you're reducing the amount of air to the carb thus compensating for it.

If the engine will run with the clutch in but stalls and won't move the tractor, you could be in TWO gears at once. Sometimes the ball on the bottom of the gear shift gets worn and allows the gear shift lever to slide out of the forks. The ball should be round and .625 in.(5/8") in dia. The fix is to remove the snap ring that holds the gear shift in and inspect the ball. You can replace the gear shift lever with another good used one. You will also need to look down into the hole and with a long screwdriver move the slotted levers to the center which is neutral. Good luck

i agree with you but I have done everything I can think of. I used my propane torch ( not flame ) around the manifold and it made no difference so I don't think it is the manifold.

The tractor is winning right now :)

you seem well versed in these things.

Here is the "wheel lock issue". I think you are right in that it is in 2 gears at once. Is the snap ring on top? Here is a bit of a mystery.. I push the clutch in and prop it open, When I turn the hand crank it also tries to turn the wheel so it is not disengaged ( at least it seems that way) . SO do Ihave 2 issues? I put a new clutch ( the whole thing in) so maybe I did something wrong. I have only run this thing in place( it has not moved) so I am not sure what happened.

thoughts??

A weak spark can seem to be a carb problem. A rich mixture burns better with a weak spark. You need a spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap pr more at all 4 plug wires and be a blue/white in color
