When i adjust the idle air screw on my allis c carb it makes no difference in how it runs at idle. What do i have going on? Checked for air leaks and found nothing.

The carburetor needs disassembled and given a thorough cleaning.

You do know that the stop screw on the back of the carburetor sets the idle RPM's. The idle air mixture screw adjusts the air fuel mixture to make the engine run smooth where ever the stop screw is set.

If you do know this then it is most likely plugged channels in the idle circuit.

The way I adjust it is to slow the engine down as much as I can with the idle stop screw, the I adjust the idle air mixture fro the fastest RPM. Then I slow the engine down as much as possible with the idle stop screw, then I adjust the idle air adjustment . Then I go back and forth doing the same thing.

Yup, idle rpms are fine, she just has a little hick up every now and then when idled down so i figured an adjustment on the mixture screw may help. Kinda figured carb needs a good cleaning, just figured id ask.

When above idle you can remove the idle mixture and it will make no difference. It not supposed to make a difference. It is out of the circuit!
