D17 Hours

I"m looking at a D17 III. The hour meter shows 100086. Is this 1000 hours and some tenths and hundreths? The last 2 numbers to the right are a different color so I have assumed they represent tenths. I"m asking here to be sure this tractor actually has 1000 hours on it not 10000.

Yes, that's tenths and hundredths. Have you determined that it's really working?

No, I've only talked with owner on the phone. If it actually has 1000 hours on it, I'm all in.

The far right indicator should be visibly moving when the engine is revved up. I didn"t notice if mine (Series III) has numbers on it. I thought it was just a black and white indicator. Course, I"ve had the tractor only 30 years.....

I think some of them had numbers, and some had the alternating black and white.

I ran my D19 ~10 minutes for comparison purposes. The far right number went from 0 to 9 in that time.
