PTO Gear Box from a WD

Hello, I have a 42, WC, that runs great. Last winter, we had a lot of cold weather, now the PTO gear box has a crack along the bottom. My question is, if I found a WD PTO gear box on a site, would that work? The mount looks the same, in the pics. The difference that I noticed, was that on the output shaft, mine has a screw in sleeve. On the WD, it looks like a sealed bearing of some sort. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I do not know for sure but I think they are different. But I am sure some one else will correct me if I am wrong about that. I could probably go out and look at the WC parts tractor and compare it to the WD45 I have and have a better idea but I'm going to be lazy this morning and not do so

the out put shaft and rear mounting is different between the wc and wd, a wc gear box is the only way to repair it rite.

Here in Tacoma,Wa. we have a business called ALLCAST, that welds all types of cast iron, and engines, surely you have something similar in your area. Keep the water out of the PTO, in the winter time.

The gear on the WC is smaller than the WD in the gearbox so it won't work you should be able to find a WC PTO box easily enough.I probably have a half dozen around if I can find one.

Well thanks for all replies. I will look for a WC PTO box. I just replaced the rubber piece on the shift arm, so hopefully that will take care of the water in the gear box issue.

My parts WC should still have the PTO on it which I would let go of. My e-mail is open
