Head Gasket for a 49 WD

Can anybody show me a pic of one. My boy SUPPOSEDLY bought a head gasket, and all they sent was insert rings that went over the holes in the manifold. We pried the old rings off and put the new ones on, but it is still blowing gas/oil'
Im thinking that there should be a regular full face gasket for it.

Yes, that's the manifold, and those roundrels was what my boy got. Its still blowing gas and oil tho.

The head has to be smooth- might be burned at the outlets? Manifold might need to be re-faced? Gaskets can"t fill all imperfections.

If the exhaust ends are not burned away and un-even...

I ALWAYS rub Red "Hi-Temp" Gasket sealer into the asbestos rings and stick them in the metal cups, then stick the metal rings onto the manifold runners and slip the manifold into place..(the rings stay in place and make it an easy job).

You don't want the ends of the manifold tightened too tight, it needs to move as the manifold heats and cools..

I filled the cyls with trans oil and let it set a couple days. I then belted it to my H Farmall and ran it with the spark plugs off to blow out the oil, which I thought it would have done, But im getting oil running down from the head and manifold ports. Do you think its the trans oil? IF SO, Do you think I should remove the plugs and belt it up again?

Well, as I had said, I had filled the chambers with trans fluid, as it had sat a long time. I took the s plugs out and ran it off of my H Farmall via belt pulleys, and thought I had got it all out. Do you think I ought to have at it again to see if any more blows out?

YT has those gaskets, and I do order from YT, however so does Welters farm supply, in Verona Mo. , and recently I ordered a set of gaskets from YT for my CA, and realized that I wanted another set for my C, so I ordered again from Welters, in Mo. The set from Welters reached me a week sooner, than the set from YT, and Chimicum Wa, is only about 50 miles from me.

The tin with the fiber washer is all that goes on the manifold. If the head AND the manifold are not almost PERFECTLY FLAT all the way across, no gasket will work. If you are blowing oil around, you need to stop the oil from getting to the manifold, be it by replacing the rocker cover gasket or rebuilding the engine so you don't have blow by.
