200 fuel pump

My 200 fuel pump leaks at shutoff/on lever. How does this come off. I do not wish to break anything by not having info and book gives none.

How does it run otherwise, any surging or erratic speed changes lately? If so the retainer ring may be failing which causes higher housing pressure, then leaks at the throttle/shutoff shaft seals. Remove the two screw timing cover and see if any bits of the broken ring are there, will look like coffee grounds.

fixing a leaking throttle or shut off shaft is sometimes like killing the messenger. If the o rings on this shaft are old enough to start to leak, how long will the drive seal last before leaking fuel into the crank case? On a Roosa pump it is almost a given if the pump is starting to leak fuel, the flex ring is on the way out. Call around, and find an EXPERIANCED pump guy to reseal your unit. It should run about 350-450 bucks to go through a Roosa. just make sure it is run on a stand to be sure everything is right. I have seen some train wreaks from the guy who fixes his own on the pickup tail gate. If you cant find someone in your area at a fair price feel free to give me a call. Good luck, Al 231/757/0064
