D-14 lift

Help, I have a neighbor who has a Allis D-14. It has an aftermarket 3 point hitch. He is pulling a 5' rotary mower. The lift raises and lowers fine, but will not hold the mower in a position when cutting the pasture at about 1' keeps dropping. Any help will be great. Thanks in advance Jim

When I had my d14,

I used check chains to hold the cutter at the same height.

The chains ran from the ends of the lower arm hitch pins up to the top hitch at the tractor end of the top link.

They worked very well and held the cutter at the same height each time it was lowered.

Do you have the operator manual that shows how to set the Hold control?
