Can't believe what I saw

What some folks will do. Seen a tractor in the fair parade all painted up and it had WF on the side, but looked just like a WD. Adjustable wide front end and all. Check the serial number and it had WD stamped right there. Looked at tractor data and their picture is all together a different bird. Can someone give me some info on a WF and what were they used for. Thanks

WF was basically a wheatland version of a WC. Sat lower, solid wide front. I want to say they were a bit narrower and seeing them at shows, they almost look shorter front to back.

Here is a WF. Many of them ended up in Canada for some reason.

The final drives are narrower and rolled forward like an IB so the wheelbase is shorter and the tractor sits lower to the ground.

For non cultivation areas as the design could not use a cultivator. Compaired to usage of the Fordson, McCormick Deering 10-20, John Deere AR, Oliver 70 Standard. Never seen one in usage as this area was row crop country, only at shows. Think production ended with the end of WC and introduction of WD. Looks like they would be more comfortable to drive than a WC-WD.

I use Plasti-kote brand high temp engine paint on my manifolds and have had good luck with it. The local farm store carries it here.

There will be a WF on the Moody sale Aug 23rd Kincaid Ks. There are also several highcrops Aumann Auctions has the sale. There are a few Internationas also.

Being a wheatland version of the WC, normal to go to Western states and Canada. Can"t put a row crop cultivator on them, low crop clearance, etc., they were just a puller. They are narrower than WC, and shorter due to the rear axle being turned a bit forward to drop the height. Mine is a 1949, has a belt pulley. Can"t see using it for belt work- not much clearance between belt and front tire. Production ended 1951 at sn 8353.
