Gasket sealer or not

I need to install the transmission clutch housing
back to the engine clutch housing on my wd. I
bought genuine agco gaskets for this project. The
gasket is made of what looks to be light "non-
corrugated" cardboard, or some other fiber
material. My repair manual does not address
sealer issues. (Also AGCO manual) Has anyone
joined these together lately? Sealer or none?
Also, I am using cover plates on the PTO drive,
and the HYD pump, for a "non-field use"
application. The PTO gasket is cork, and the HYD
pump gasket is fiber also. Any suggestions?

Drawfiling the surfaces to get rid of the pry par dings and raised areas around the threaded holes and then properly torquing the bolts will do more to prevent leaks long term than a bucket full of goop. We had our WD completely apart 10 years ago and it remains bone dry. We used AGCO gaskets with just enough gasket sticky goop in spots to keep them in place during assembly. If the plates used for deleting the pump and PTO are made from thin material your best bet is CLEAN and DRY surfaces and silicone gasket maker without any other gasket.

I kinda like a coupla small oil leaks on a tractor. It makes a good conversation starter when a stranger drives in uninvited to ask to buy stuff that is not for sale. :)^D They will look over a tractor in the yard before I get out to them and they say, Did you know you have an oil leak here?, pointing to the dirty oily dust. (HERES YOUR SIGN)

Butch,
I like the "dry" method on the transmission clutch gasket. I can't find the torque ratio on the 6 (half inch bolts) that holds the transmission clutch to the engine clutch. If you have it, my e-mail is open.
