Can I have both rear axles out of the G rear end at the same time without the ring gear and ring carrier falling out of place, making it difficult if not impossible to get the axles back in without further disassemble?

Leon, ring gear will stay put until either inner most cast housing behind the brakes is removed. It carries not only the axle seals, but the ring gear support races too

Thanks, in retrospect, that was sort of a stupid question I ask. I need to get some permatex on the shims and put new pads on the brake shoes. So, I'll pull one housing & axle, pull the bearing carrier on that side, permatex the shims, then replace that carrier. Then do the some to the other side, leaving both axles and housings off while I take all four shoes to NAPA for new pads. As I just put in new seals, I'm planning to use guide rods, be REAL careful, and not replace the seals again.
