D-17 Hydraulic oil dip stick

My D-17 hydraulic oil dip stick keeps popping out from the cap and falling in to the hydraulic pump. Any suggestions?

Weld it, or replace it.

The dipstick is new as the old one was ground up in the pump I had to replace last year. I could always buy a new dipstick/cap combination but just though maybe someone had a solution for my problem. Thought maybe someone else had experienced the same issue at sometime.

This is a 1959 model and the hydraulic oil cap and dipstick looks different that the one the comes up on a parts search
