I recently bought an IB which was apparently used at one of the City of New York airports. It's the same height as a B, with the B's wishbone front end and, apparently, factory installed front hydraulics with what appears to be a hitch for a snow plow blade. Decaled IB, with the heavy metal surround frame; working on identifying the serial number. Heavy rear hitch with about a 1-inch diameter pin for pulling around carts.

A metal plate on the side says "Purchased from the Franz Tractor Company, Brooklyn, New York"(unable to locate). It seems to be a special order from AC to NYC thru Franz, and appears to be an IB/B hybrid.

Any information would be appreciated.

It"s decal is IB, has the external wrap-around heavier frame, although with the B front wishbone frame, and the height above ground is at the B level, not IB. All appears factory and not add-on (for example, the front hydraulics and a 2-step walkup to the seat).

Got a picture of it? Rolling the final drives is the key to an IB to lower it. Serial # is important. In the last 60 years anything could have been assembled. IB's never had a model designation (IB)on them.

Thanks for the reply. Pictures next week after I pick it up, as well as additional work to determine the serial number.

I talked to an 80 some year old Allis Chalmers man that worked for an Allis dealership most of his working life about the B's with a C front end. He said that his dealership could get about anything the customer wanted special from the factory. What Allis didn't want to do his boss would have them do. He said Allis Chalmers did what they needed to do to make a sale. When I bought my narrow front B the owner was sure it came from the factory that way. This old fellow said he would never say never.
