Allis-Chalmers Model H

Saw where Aumann Auctions sold an Allis model H 4wd for 20,000.00.Ihave not heard of this model. Just wondering what size tractor and how many of them were made.It looked to be a 1950s model.Does anyone know anything about this model. Thanks Jim

That was the tractor my friend Jasper Gayhart had.
I don't remember where he bought it, for he had it several years.
You probably could google and find about it.
They didn't build many, they used B Allis components.
In the late 1940s there was a company out west,i think it was Utah, built a tractor that was called a Harris Power Horse, you could get them with a seat or a line drive and sit on the seat of the unit it was pulling, such as a vagon, or plow.
There were another spin off of the same thing,I don't remember the name.

H1 was an experimental model built in 1945, using a Model C engine. Rockford steering clutches, activated by hand levers. Clark transmission, 4 speeds fwd or rev. Hyd pump. Orchard model made for California, cultivating equipment fitted at Oxnard. Info from Wendel"s AC Story.

From Swinford"s AC Farm Equipment---1914-1985: Bonham in Utah built 4wd tractors in mid 30s, called his the Power Horse. AC engine, steering levers worked by hand or with reins. Also built by Eimco Corp. in Salt Lake City. 1000 units by WWII. AC continued development til 1945. Six prototypes built/tested. Planetary gear/clutch steering system worked poorly around corners, couldn"t continue pulling the load.

The one that was on the auction was not a true A-C model H it was a put together rig. I do have some pictures of the prototypes but have just recently moved and they are on my hard drive under a pile of boxes.
