My Dad and I have an Allis Chamler WD45 that the starter housing broke on. I ordered a replacement but the replacement didn't work, it was 1/4 inch to long at the bottom and 1/2 inch to long at the top and made a really mean sound when I tried to start the tractor up. Now to be honest I don't know a lot about tractors, my 80 year old Dad is teaching his oldest daughter so enough said (yes I am to tom boy. Has anyone had this problem before and can anyone point me in the right direction. It is a gas tractor and was converted from 6v to 12v. I really need help with this one, our tractor is down.
