Allis Chalmers C won't run

Here is my problem. Back in the winter my C started to miss and I passed it off as bad gas. A month ago it started missing real bad. It seemed I lost one cylinder then two and now it won't fire. We checked for spark and it's there but we changed the coil anyway. I re-adjusted the points and cleaned the carb and changed the gas. I have spark but it won't start. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you tear the carb completely apart and check the main jet when you "cleaned" it? Does it hit when you have it full choke? Are the spark plug clean?

I did tear it all the way down and I used carburetor clean on every orifice and blew it out with air. On occasion it will fire but it won't hardly start. It seems like it's out of time almost. I checked the distributor and it hasnt moved.

Tear the carb apart and check that main jet again. Just carburetor clean and compressed air will not clear it if it is plugged due to "Bad gas". I had an 8N ford running when I bought it, and by the time I picked it up a few weeks later it wouldn't start. Tore the carb apart several time trying to clean it with carb cleaner. The last time I removed the main jet and it was completely varnished shut. Opening the passage and it fired right up.

After that I have torn two honda engine carbs apart to clean those main jets too. Both had gas sitting in the carb too long on those as well. The one on my tiller was acting similar to yours, first it was loosing power, then it would only run on full choke, then it would barely start.

you need three thing to run,,,, fuel,, fire,,,and
compression.. Sound like compression is ok being it
was running ok,, so you either not getting fuel or
good enough spark. If you think the spark is good
enough, spray some carb cleaner in the carb while
trying to start it , if it starts then you have fuel
prob, if it dont then spark truble.

The motor has about 50 hours on a complete overhaul. Was running smooth as butter and it went down the crapper pretty fast. I'll try your recommendations and get back to you on the results. Thanks for the help.

if he has spark, then replacing the condensor will do him as much good as changing the air int he tires.

he needs to check compression.. if he has comp. has spark, then check timing and gas...

After replacing the coil, condensor, and the points I looked to the spark plugs again. The spark plugs looked good and normal but after replacing them it runs like a champ again. Thanks to everyone for your input.
