Allis Chalmers B clutch

I need some help on how to adjust the clutch on my '38 B. It wont release when the pedal is pushed down.It also wont go into gear without grinding. Thanks for your help

Mine did the same thing one time. Turned out the clutch was stuck to the flywheel. Jacked it up and put it in gear thinking I could rock the tire and get it to break free. Wrong. Had to put it in gear then start it a couple of times in 1st and in reverse and it finally broke loose. Never had it happen on any other tractors except my B and they are all stored in the same building. Funny thing thing is it did it in the summer not in the winter or spring when everything would have been more damp.

the throw out bearing is drip lubed from a wick inside the crankshaft. Over the years the oil will get the clutch and plate wet/ sticky and cause the problem you have. Pull the starter motor out... Push the clutch pedal down and hold with a 2 x 4 wedge... Get a weed sprayer with a cup of laundry liquid soap and water and soak it really good thru the starter hole... when you think you did a good job, do it again... then spray up from the bottom thru the oval hole in the torque tubel.. Let everything set for 10 minutes, then stick the garden hose in the hole and blast away... put the starter back on and fire it up and drive around a littlt to test and let things dry up. Do it again in 5 years.

Sorry for the long delay in getting back to this. This tractor does not have a starter on her. She is a hand crank or pull start. Which gets a little hairy when pulling her to start. Which I haven't had to do in along time. Now, when I lock the clutch down to crank her it seems to disengage the clutch. If, I remove the inspection cover on the bottom can I access the "lubrication" points to help free her up??? The main reason I want her to work right is my 13 year old grandson loves this little tractor and wants to drive her in a parade this summer and scares me that she'll stick and he'll panic and run into something or someone. Thanks everyone for the help and comments..........Kenny
