AC CA - rear hydraulic ram assembly, cracked

While mowing the field today I had my left rear hydraulic ram assembly on my '52 CA crack wide open - full split down one side, and almost completely down the other.

First, I need to find a replacement. Does anyone here have a used one they are interested in parting with?

Second, I'd like to understand why it cracked. Last spring I had the old hose on this ram blow open, and replaced it. While mowing I was climbing a small hill, and the tractor was having a little trouble making the climb so I was using the hand clutch to ease it into first as I had just backed down the hill a little to take another route. The ram must have been under pressure to crack, but I had the mower almost all the way down ( just lifted slightly, under tensions, but not actively lifting it.)

Any thoughts of leads would be greatly appreciated.

the hose goes to the bottom end of the cylinder to extend to raise. When you are not controlling the cylidner, the oil is trapped in the hose and cylinder by the valve? Somehow you buildup excessive pressure in the cylinder and hose. I would think you would have to hit 5000 psi or better to blow a good hose or split the cylinder. Hard to see your setup / linkage / deck bounced ? If all else failes, i would put a TEE in the line and a relief set at 3000 psi and dump back into the oil resivour.

I would be checking your relief pressure on the pump. Those pumps can develop WAY too much pressure if the relief spool is hung up and that might cause the engine to bog down under what would be a normal load otherwise.
Beg borrow or steal a 5,000 PSI oil filled pressure gauge and connect it to the hydraulic outlet. Turn the PTO on and lift the lever with the engine running about half throttle. The gauge should not go past 3,500. If it does, take the pump off and remove shims from the relief spool or find out why it's hanging up.
If that spool is hanging up, you could have serious results from a rupture in the system or even brake something, like the cam that drives the pump.
