HD3 thermostat

Curious if the thermostat it working correctly on the HD3 Allis. Tested the antifreeze at the top of the radiator after running at idle for about 20 minutes and got a reading of about 125 degrees with an outside temp of 70 degrees. Original temp gauge reads cooler than normal running temp. I think the thermostat is stuck open. Any thoughts on this situation are welcome.
