HD3 Allis return fuel line

Started the HD3 yesterday. Ran if for 15 minutes and it got smoother as it ran, idled down quite well. With that I have a question. Why is it hard starting when warm? Could it be starting speed?
The second question is what is the purpose of the return line from injector system to tank? One suggested it is to cool down the fuel system? How does one figure out it this line is plugged? Could this be part of the warm starting problem? Any and all thoughts are welcome.

Isn"t it to carry excess fuel back from the injectors, to the fuel tank? If the return line is plugged I wouldn"t be surprised to see some problem develop. Pressure or excess has to go somewhere. Take the line off at the tank and blow air through it. Cooling down makes no sense to me.
 
The excess fuel is serves two purposes. One is to ensure the
injectors have more than a adequate fuel available. The second
is to cool the injection pump and injectors. Return lines early
plug though it is possible. I would be more inclined to say you
have somthing partially plugged on the supply side. If it has
rubber fuel line anywhere between the tank and the pump make
sure its not collapsing. When it gets old it will collapse under
suction and shut off fuel supply.
