AC Tractor HP ratings

I always thought the d21 was the first one with a turbo, did the ih 560 have a turbo to? Had a guy tell me one time that was the first, I know not all d19s have a turbo

Well I had a man on a tractor ride on time with a 560 that had a turbo and he said it was factory, I don't know much on the farmalls but he said it was factory I didn't think it was, must of Been aftermarket or he did it and didnt wanna tell the truth. Because he always likes making fun of MMs never having a turbo from factory, they had dealer installed ones but guess they didnt need them because they had the cubic inches which most everyone else lacked.

70HP would be the D-19 gas, 1961-63
60HP would be the 5 1/4" bore Threherman"s Special 24-40 from the mid 1930s

Hate to tell you guys this but Cat made a heck of a lot of AG crawlers and they had both the first farm tractor with a diesel and the first turbo AG tractor. Sure enough on steel tracks but sold to and used on the farm for tillage work. IH had the first wheeled diesel and AC the first wheeled turbo tractor.

IMO both AC and IH messed up big time with the Snap Coupler and Fast Hitch systems. Most of them old farmers back then were not going to want a proprietary hitch system that didn't allow them to use already owned implements or the ability to shop around for implements that may have cost less. I think it cost both companies sales to JD, Case, Oliver, MM, Ford and others. So neither are really bragging points and helped lead to the demise of both companies. And no, I'm not a JD fan. I'm kinda color blind on tractors. To me the best tractor is one that starts, runs, completes the work required without breakdowns and most important is paid for!

Some IH crawlers had the D282 engine with a turbo. Story I heard was after the JD 4010 was introduced, IH made the parts available to install on the 560 and 660 farm tractors. So it was possible to have a genuine IH turbo, dealer installed, on a new 560. Whether you want to consider that factory is up for debate I guess.
