WD Manure scoop

Did AC make and sell a manure scoop for there WD tractors? IF SO, What would you guess a full scoop of soft Gurnsey manure would weigh?

IF they did make a scoop, and it DID see such service, Do you think the hyds could lift up a 852 back floor on a NH round bailer??

AC made one the WD 9 loader. Couple other companies also made them. Bucket of poo is probably 300 or so lbs depending on moisture, etc. Hyd should pick up the rear gate, but you might need a smaller diameter cylinder. And you'll need a valve in your loader hydraulics to keep it in place while spreading. I've done some loads with the loader tractor, but it's a lot nicer having 2 tractors. I probably haul a dozen loads or so of horse poo a year with my WD. Haul with my WC on the spreader.

My problem with all backwards mounted attachments is that they are using the tires backwards, too. You don't get the benefit of the cleats working the way they are supposed to, and rarely ever get a full scoop, by backing in till you spin, and raising the scoop. If you want to go that route, you can adapt a cat 1 scoop, to any old snap coupler tongue, off a plow, or bush hog, and rig it to a cat one 3 point. the toplink on a WD mounts to the hyd rockshaft, centered between the 2 lift arms. THe weakness is that the toplink bracket is not splined into the shaft, and hitting something hard while backing, (a common occurrence!)can break the bracket loose, or worse still, bend the rockshaft...

Oh yeah, the answer is, yes they did make a scoop, that was snap coupler, one of my neighbors has been trying to sell one for years now, but his price is too high, if you ask me...

Now we need some clarification. Are you asking about a front mounted loader, or a rear mounted scoop? They made both. The rear scoop only lifts about a foot or so off the ground and would have zero chance of filling a manure spreader. The AC scoop could be used facing forward or the scoop could be reversed to use going backwards. I know going forwards, that thing will really dig. I have one that I use occasionally.

I"m reading the original question as will a WD raise the back gate on a New Holland 852 baler.? My thoughts are yes...., but may require some type of modification to the baler hydraulics. Reason I say yes is because I know of a couple of people who use WD s with loaders and move 1200 lb round bales all winter feeding cattle. If you can lift that much with a loader, I"d think you could lift a baler gate.

If that is the question then I think lifting the gate will be the least of the worries. A WD will have all it can do to get the chains in an 852 spinning let alone make a bale.

What im trying to get across is, IF a WD can lift 300lbs of rappola with a front mounted scoop, as I never saw a rear mopunted one, I would think it could lift the reat gate on a 852 round bailer.

This one has been rebored?refitted? with whatever that will bring it up to or past that of a WD 45.

I'm guessing the baler has two way hydraulic cylinders and your WD only has single way hydraulics. Also the WD puts out high pressure 3500+psi, and the baler calls for 3100psi Max I'm betting, therefor get ready for leaky cylinders.

You also better have a bit of weight on the front of that WD or else your going not going to be able to steer. My 851 empty will lift the front tires on my WD if I let out the clutch too quickly, can't imagine it with a 1200+lbs bale in it, or when the rear gate is opened. Also I would also plan on reinforcing the drawbar before you try to bale because mine flexes when bouncing with an empty baler.

Not trying to discourage you but even a "rebored?refitted?" WD isn't going to make a very good bale with that 852. If isn't going to have the power to keep the RPM's up when spinning 1000lbs of hay and at best the bale will be loose and impossible to handle. At worst it is going to plug up when you pull in a slug of hay because the tractor just doesn't have the guts to get the job done.

to answer you first question, yes they made a scoop for the rear of tractor, bout the size of a wheelbarrow, also made loader or scoop for the front, not much bigger ,lol. As far as lifting the door on baler with alot of modification it should. The statement bout spinning it with the H , yes empty, if that 852 is like my 850 wait till you get hay in it .

We used to Buther and could easily lift an 1,100 lb Steer with the loader bucket on my Grandad's WD.

FWIW..

Ron.
