Was at a guys place today looking at WD parts tractors, he had two that he had bought for scrap price to part out, been setting for years and both stuck. Both original, both had fairly short heads with a taller valve cover, both had distributors and the bolt on side plate on right side. He also had a reversed one that he said he had for years, side bolt on plate, distributor, but it had a taller head and a shorter valve cover, what gives? would his have a WD45 cylinder head and valve cover?? I don't know much about Allis, but I want to learn. I have a chance to by one from my cousin this spring, WD, wide front, mag, runs good, I totally rebuilt it for him a dozen years ago and he's done with it. Thanks for any info.

The tall head was not new with the WD-45.
It was introduced on the WD in 1951 with engine number WD289001.
I have my Dad's '51 WD engine #WD309267PA (Tractor #WD100853)and it has the tall head.
