D17 Generator Problem

Just wanted to ask if anyone has installed A alternator on D17 series 4, If so what alternator did you use. Not much space between power steering pump and front motor support. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.

The most common alternator used in retrofits is the DELCO 10SI used by Chevy / Pontiac/ Olds from about 1970 - 1990. This was one of the first alternators with an internal voltage regulator. Later in the 1990s- 2000 DELCO built a unit that is slightly smaller in the CS130. This is normally a little higher cost and not as readily available... but i prefer it. That being said, you could use a japanees unit off a small car with minor wiring changes. What ever you use, just make sure it has an internal voltage regulator.
