I am switching our D-19 from positive ground to negative ground. The voltage regulator on it has 4 posts. L Bat Fld Gen. Anyone out there have a part# for a neg ground regulator?

What generator are you going to use ? Quite a few people use a 12 v Delco from 1965 Chevy truck, etc. You can use the regulator off the same truck... You dont need the "L" wire, can use a standard 3 wire regulator.

Sorry, no part number for you, but this information which you may or may not already know may or may not help lol
Some VR's are specifically labeled for use with Pos or Neg Ground, while some others are not
With a simple wiring change you can get by using EITHER a 4 Terminal (BAT LOAD FIELD GEN) VR or a 3 terminal (BAT FLD GEN)
Be sure to polarize the genny BEFORE starting lest you may damage a new VR
If you change battery polarity the ignition coil polarity should also be changed as well as the ammeter polarity if it has one.

There is no difference in the generator for either ground, it does however need to be correctly polarized for the ground you are going to use PRIOR TO STARTING THE TRACTOR. The difference in the regulators is the material used for the points differs to prevent transfer from one to the other. When operated in a reversed polarity the life of the regulator is reduced. If you have to buy one anyway you might as well wait until you need one and use up the old. If the regulator has been replaced in the last 10-15 years it is likely usable either way as they are By -polar, LOL//
You must make the connection changes that John T mentioned at the ammeter and the coil. Polarize the generator and your ready to go.

spent most of the morning running around different places until I found the exact regulator I needed. Switched what needed and it works great.
