does any one know how i can get ahold of Steve B from customs circuits for his advice & drawing on how to successfully convert to a 12v electrical system with a 12v generator

Sorry, I don't know Steve. If I wanted to convert a 6 volt tractor to 12 volt using a 12 volt generator, I would:

1) Get a 12 Volt Voltage Regulator compatible with the Generator and compatible with the choice of Ground (Pos or Neg)

2) EITHER get a new full true 12 volt coil (NO external Ballast required) OR ELSE use the existing 6 volt coil but add an external series voltage dropping (12 to 6) ballast resistor after the Ignition Switch and before the coil.

3) I would keep and use the 6 volt starter

4) I would change lights to 12 volt

5) In the event Polarity were changed, I would reverse any ammeter leads and the ignition coil needs to match the Polarity chosen (Pos or Neg Ground)

6) Get a 12 volt battery WELL DUHHHHHHHHHHH
