180 hydraulics

Can someone please help me out. I know this has been discussed before but I have a 180 diesel. With the hydraulic fluid full, it tends to "run out" of fluid. It seems that the fluid is not getting back to the reservoir as fast as it is being scavenged. Once the fluid is warm it operates correctly. Well, the steering is pretty slow all of the time but it is nonexistent in the above scenario. The steering, loader, etc. seems to work intermittently as fluid seems to return to the reservoir. PLEASE HELP. Is there possibly a screen in the return line? It is full of fluid and a fairly new filter. Thanks.

It does not leak into the transmission. Definitely getting starved for oil. Do I need to drop a pan or something to get to the sump or is there one on the return? Thanks

Yes there is a cast iron pan under the Powerdirector ; the pickup tube is bolted to it and runs to the pump , its about a 2 inch metal tube that runs along the frame

I"ve got a 180 that done the same thing. Check the rubber connection tube sleeves at the pump, make sure the clamps are tight.
What finally fixed mine was adding extra fluid, about a 1/2 inch above the full mark solved the problem on mine.
