WD serial number location

I just acquired a WD from my older brother and I'm trying to figure out the serial number. I have looked by the left differential housing, on top and on the side ? Does any body have any ideas on how else to tell what year of tractor I have or were that serial number is located.

Unless the rear end has been replaced, it should be under the yellow rectangle in the photo. The Operators manual also says it could be on the top by the black rectangle, but I have never heard any one say they found one there.

If the rear end was replaced by the Dealer at some point, they should have re stamped the new rear end with the original tractor number, but I know for a fact they didn't always do what they should have, as we have a WD45 that has nothing stamped on its rear end.

The link gives the only option to get you a ball park year if no SN is stamped in the rear end. To use it, you will need to find the motor SN. It is stamped into a flat spot on the block, I never can remember the side. This will only work if you have a block that has a SN (for the same reason as with the rear end, some don't), and will only give a ballpark for the tractor if the motor wasn't pulled from a different tractor.

WD sn corrolation

It is on the left differential housing below the hole the brake spring hooks into on the flat part next to the rockshaft mounting bolt. You may have to scrape paint to find it.

Engine serial number is stamped on the left side, between the carb and air cleaner. WD45 engine will start with 45-. WD engine is different- starts with a PA or G?
