DISC SIZE FOR A WD

A WD is around 34HP. 10 foot is likely to be a tad bit big unless your on good flat ground and have nice soil. I had a friend who had a 10 foot JD disk and Ford Jubilee and he could not pull that and the Jubilees is 31HP

better say 8 ft tops ,i have a WD w/ filled tires , 10 Ft light wieght deerborn hyd lift disk & it wont pull it , not enough tracton on plowed ground , lots of power though , but my 23 HP Farmall H pulls it with no probem in 3rd gear , Allis always had a power to wieght problem in those days

I agree an eight ft. tandom disc would be a load for a WD, but as far as a Farmall H out pulling a WD, our old WC would pull a drag type disc or a two bottom plow better than an H. Try raising the drawbar to get some traction.

Cam-Lock on Duals should not be hard to find and make all the difference on loose ground.

Same size as the in-board tires, or if they are 14.9x28 (Old 13x28") and your WD has 12x28, put the larger tires inside..they are a better size for it anyway.
Power-wise, you may need 2nd gear in some places, 3rd in a lot.
My WD-45 (with Duals) has no problem anywhere in 3rd with an IH #37 10'7" across the rear..
My Grandad used this combination for years, with NO duals, but wheel slippage is excessive on loose ground.

Before we had the IH #37 10' disc, we pulled 2 8' discs, one behind the other with no need for duals.

1st pass over plowed ground was always with one of our JD "B" tractors, pulling an 8' Soil Surgeon drag-type Pan..
It settled most residue, so the disc did not work it up into the seed bed..levelled the ground well too.
A Soil Surgeon has 4 rows of 5 swiveling "U-Shaped" cutting knives that really break up the soil, and you can alternate Soil for weight, for Rocks you pick up in the field..!

I had a d-14 and it pulled an 8 ft snap couple pickup disc fine.
neighbor had a 8 ft snap couple trailer disc

both worked good and the tractors could pull them fine. the traction booster worked good in a wet spot.

10ft disc would be a little over the top unless it was a wd45 with a power booster kit and then you would run out of tire traction. (just my opinion)

I imagine that Jubilee was way to Light in the Butt..!!

Duals on a WD or WD-45 make a world of difference on a 10' Disc and Harrow..

You maybe right but the Jubilee had fluid on both rears but also had a loader on it so yes the trail may not have had enough weight but also here in Missouri in this area we have heavy black clay

Old, we had (Hopefully our LAST) Sub-Zero night last night (Central Ohio).

Hope this winter is about finished, I've had enough.!
Seems the COLD has been steady, since Thanks Giving..!
Hope it is improving there too..!

Just got back from town. Weather guessers have said high of 37 in Springfield MO which is about 100 miles south west of me but in town bank say it was 45 so guess they guessed wrong. Tomorrow is suppose to be even warmer so just wait a day or so and this warm should your way

We used to pull a 10ft all the time with our WD. once I needed to do a small spot so I hooked up and pulled a 12ft.

I didn't have problems with either size. My ground is a heavy clay.

P.S. we let the disc cut as deep as they would cut, our blades measure 16-18 inches over-all dia
