Hey guys I seen on ebay today a allis chalmers wd high crop tractor with LP did they make many of these and how rare are they?

It certainly looks like a thompson high crop. Didn't see any propane setup on it, so I can't comment on that.

Looks like to me it has a propane tank and related parts sitting off to he side. Gas tank and carburetor look like standard WD. If you are looking at it from a collector's/restorer's standpoint the drawbar arrangement has been modified.

The tractor lift on the back is correct for a Thomson.
This was used for the cane equipment down in La.

The LP tank most likely was where the gas tank is mounted this was typical of the conversion down there also.

also Thomson made there own steering box on the WD
then when they went to the WD 45 they used the 4 bolt bolster.

I believe if those are the factory LP part, the tank should mount in front of the tractor. I also recall Allis make the WD with LP to be dual fuel (you could run LP or gasoline).

I have pix of that tank setup, taken on a trip through Texhoma, OK, two decades ago. AC and JD D parked at a gas station---both LP. IIRC LP tank mtg brackets were made to accommodate the crossbar on the mounted cultivator.
